Employment Services

The Berks County Domestic Relations Section has an Employment Counseling Specialist on staff to assist unemployed clients.  This staff member conducts scheduled work search appointments with unemployed clients on a daily basis.  She will review the efforts a client is making to obtain a job, and will make referrals to resources, workshops and any appropriate job openings our office may have been advised of.  She will also provide guidance to those clients who may have barriers to employment (such as transportation issues, criminal background, etc).

Our office can provide a client with an "employment packet" that consists of information on CareerLink, a listing of the local temporary agencies, information on the current local newspaper "help Wanted" ads, the local bus schedule, and job search forms.

Our website gives clients the ability to report new employment, report loss of a job, contact the Employment Counseling Specialist directly through email, access the CareerLink website, and link to additional helpful information and upcoming events.  This link will show if our office has any information on job openings reported to us, or any possible recruitment/ job fairs that have come to our attention.  This "Employment Services" section is located on the right side of our Home Page.

When appearing for a work search appointment, clients should bring the most recent copy of their resume and completed job search forms.  Clients are asked to be prompt for all work search appointments due to the volume of clients seen.
