First Day of Jury Service

Jurors are asked to call (610) 478-6400 after 5:00 p.m. the day before their reporting date and listen to the recorded message of instructions.  The message will state if the jurors are to report for service at 8:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Berks County Services Center.

Juror Check-In
Upon entering the main entrance of the Services Center (from Reed St.), all jurors are required to go through a metal detector and should bring their summons with them for identification.  Jurors should not bring recording devices, weapons of any type, scissors, or chemical aerosol sprays.  Cellular telephones and laptop computers may be brought to the Jury Assembly Room, but are not allowed in the courtrooms.  Jurors should proceed to the elevators and take them to the second floor.  Follow the sign to the Jury Assembly Room.  Our Jury Tipstaves will take your summons to verify personal information, such as your name and address, validate your parking ticket, and give you an official juror badge.

Jury Assembly Room Entrance

Juror orientation takes place in the Jury Assembly Room which entails viewing a video tape describing jury procedures.  Upon arrival, the jurors are asked to complete a questionnaire which aids in the selection process.  Orientation is concluded and additional instructions are given before proceeding to the designated courtroom.
