Child Abuse Arrest
On January 24, 2018, the Berks County District Attorney's Child Abuse Unit received a report of suspected sexual child abuse from the Reading Police Department. During the investigation, detectives learned that the defendant, Jose Ifrain Hernandez had inappropriate contact with a twelve (12) year-old female. The defendant is the paramour of the victim's mother.
The Children's Alliance Center (CAC) performed a forensic interview of the victim. During the interview, the victim disclosed that the inappropriate contact occurred in the early morning hours of March 10, 2018. When the incident occurred, the victim immediately contacted her mother at work.
On September 10, 2018, the Berks County Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the defendant, Jose Ifrain Hernandez on the charges of Indecent Assault of a Child, Corruption of Minors and Endangering the Welfare of Children. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Alvin Robinson.
On September 24, 2018, the Berks County Sheriff's Warrant Division apprehended the defendant without incident. The defendant was transported to the Berks County Sheriff's Central Processing Center for processing. Bail was set at $250,000.
