James David Huber, Age 32
Charges: Dissemination of Photographs / Film of Child Sex Acts; Possession of Child Pornography and Contact / Communications With Minor / Sexual Abuse
In October of 2016, detectives from the District Attorney's Child Abuse Unit initiated an investigation into alleged possession of child pornography being uploaded via the internet. During the investigation, detectives identified a computer with the Internet Protocol (IP) address of a potential candidate with digital files of investigative interest.
Through the service of an administrative subpoena upon on Online Service, detectives learned that the IP address was assigned to an account for James David Huber, 118 Penn Street, Bernville, PA 19506.
Subsequently, on February 2, 2017, detectives obtained and served a search warrant for the aforementioned location with the assistance of the Bernville Police Department. During the search, detectives seized two digital devices (one cellular telephone and one computer).
A forensic examination was conducted by forensic analysis from the District Attorney's Digital Forensic Unit. Numerous digital files including digital images and videos of child pornography were located on the digital devices.
In addition, a further investigation revealed that James David Huber participated in sexually explicit electronic communications exchanges with a sixteen year old female from the state of Texas and a thirteen year old female from the state of South Carolina. Berks County Detectives were assisted by law enforcement officers from Ellis County, Texas, and Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
As a result of the aforementioned investigation, Berks County District Attorney Child Abuse Unit detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for James David Huber for violations of the listed aforementioned charges. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Andrea Book.
On June 1, 2017, the defendant surrendered to Berks County Detectives at their office. The defendant was processed at the Berks County Sheriff's Central Booking Department. The defendant was arraigned before MDJ Andrea Book. Bail was set at $25,000. Defendant remains free on bail.
