Joshua Lee Latman
Detectives from our District Attorney's Child Abuse Unit and a Lower Heidelberg Detective Sergeant from the Major Crime Task Force arrested Joshua Lee Latman in connection with a child pornography investigation.
In June 2013, Detectives initiated an investigation into sharing of child pornography via the internet. During the investigation, Detectives identified a computer with an Internet Protocol (IP) Address of a potential candidate for files of investigative interest.
On August 14, 2013, Detectives obtained and served a search warrant for the residence of 400 Franklin Street, Apt. 213, West Reading, PA. Latman was present at his apartment. Detectives seized numerous computer components, including towers, hard drives, CDs/DVDs and thumb drives. Following the seizure, a computer forensic examination was conducted on the aforementioned items. As a result of that examination, Detectives located and recovered 196,672 digital images/videos of child pornography.
On September 24, 2013, Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Joshua Lee Latman on the aforementioned charges. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Timothy M. Dougherty. On October 1, 2013, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Latman surrendered to Berks County Detectives at Magisterial District Judge Dougherty's office. Latman was accompanied by his attorney. Unsecured bail was set by Judge Dougherty and Mr. Latman remains free pending further court action.
