William Schiel, III, age 28
Charges: Dissemination of Photographs / Film of Child Sex Acts; Possession of Child Pornography and Contact / Criminal Use of Communication Facility
On September 19, 2016, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received information from "Omegle" security officials relative to digital files of child pornography being live streamed by a user of their application. "Omegle" is a free on-line chat website.
An investigation revealed that the live streaming uploads emanated from the Internet Protocol address assigned to 152 W. Oley Street, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. This is the residence of the defendant, William Schiel, III.
On February 8, 2017, the Berks County District Attorney's Office Child Abuse Unit served a search warrant at 152 W. Oley Street, Reading, relative to this child pornography investigation. The defendant was present at the time of the search warrant. Detectives seized numerous computer and digital items during the search warrant.
Computer and digital related items were then forensically examined by the Berks County District Attorney's Office, Computer Forensic Unit. Hundreds of digital files that included digital images and digital videos of child pornography were found on the seized items.
As a result of the investigation, the defendant was charged with the aforementioned charges. The defendant surrendered on June 12, 2017, to the Berks County Detectives at their office and was processed at the Berks County Sheriff's Central Booking Department. The defendant was arraigned before Senior Magisterial District Judge William Hall. Bail was set at $2,500. The defendant remains free on bail.
