DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
 
On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the Berks County Detective’s Office received a Childline Referral from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Human Services, relative to the sexual abuse of a victim who was identified as a (16) sixteen year old female.
 
The investigation was assigned to the Berks County Detective’s Office.
 
The criminal investigation yielded the following information.
 
The victim was interviewed at the Children’s Alliance Center.
 
During the Forensic Interview, the (16) sixteen year old female victim disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by her Aunt’s fiancé, who she positively identified as James Stoner.
 
She described sexual offenses which occurred multiple times when she was (8) eight to (10) ten years old and occurred inside her Aunt’s residence located in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
 
As a result of the Forensic Interview and through the course of this investigation, the Berks County Detectives were able to establish a timeline of these offenses and determined that these offenses occurred between January 2009 and December 2011.
 
The defendant, James Stoner, was interviewed by Berks County Detectives and admitted to having sexual contact with the victim.
 
On Thursday, January 3, 2019, the Berks County Detective’s Office filed the aforementioned criminal charges at Magisterial District Judge Carissa Johnson’s Office and an Arrest Warrant was issued for James Gary Stoner.
 
On January 4, 2019, members of the Berks County Detective’s Office took James Stoner into custody at his residence, 383 Oneida Drive, Sinking Spring, Berks County, Pennsylvania, without incident.
 
The defendant, James Stoner, was transported to Berks County’s Sheriff’s Department’s Central Processing Center for fingerprinted and processing.  Bail was set at $75,000. He remains free on bail awaiting further court action.
 
A Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
