DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
On Monday, November 26, 2018, the Berks County Detective’s Office received a Childline Referral from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Human Services, relative to the sexual abuse of a victim who was identified as a (6) six-year-old female.
The Berks County Detective’s Office initiated a criminal investigation, which yielded the following information:
During the Forensic Interview at the Children’s Alliance Center, the female child victim disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by the defendant, who was positively identified as Salomon Garcia-Lopez.
The victim described the sexual offenses as kissing, touching and digital penetration, occurring multiple times inside the residence located at 327 S. 8th Street, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Garcia-Lopez was a close friend of the victim’s family and resided with them for several years.
As a result of the Forensic Interview and through the course of this investigation, the Berks County Detectives were able to establish a timeline of these offenses and determined that these offenses occurred between December 2017 and November 2018. The victim was (6) six years old at the time of these offenses.
On May 15, 2019, the Berks County Detective’s Office filed criminal charges against the defendant, Salomon Garcia-Lopez, at Magisterial District Judge Carissa Johnson’s Office and an Arrest Warrant was issued for the defendant.
At the time of this press release, Garcia-Lopez is not in custody and law enforcement believes that he fled the area.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest has occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant Salomon Garcia-Lopez, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
