  • Defendant #2: Nikki Rae Swisher, age 23

    • Charges: Possession; Possession With the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana, Xanax, Suboxone; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Criminal Conspiracy

In early March of 2017, detectives from the Berks County District Attorney's Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police Vice Units (Troop L/Reading and Troop J/Lancaster) initiated a joint drug investigation regarding two Exeter Township residents trafficking controlled substances in the Berks and Lancaster County areas. During the investigation, detectives learned that JAMES KING and NIKKI SWISHER were trafficking substantial amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs throughout Berks and Lancaster Counties. The defendants based their operation from their residence at 198 Old Friedensburg Road in Exeter Township, Berks County.

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, the Berks County Drug Task Force Detectives obtained a search warrant from a Berks County Common Pleas Judge for the residence at 198 Old Friedensburg Road, Exeter Township, and the defendants.

Subsequently, on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, detectives observed King and Swisher leave their residence operating a silver Chevrolet Equinox travelling towards the direction of Lancaster County. At approximately 10:45 a.m., the defendants arrived in the area of the 2800 block of Main Street, Morgantown, Lancaster County. At that time, the defendants were arrested without incident. The defendants were in the possession of:

  • 280 grams of Methamphetamine (street value $28,000)
  • 16 grams of Cocaine (street value of $640)
  • 12 grams of Heroin (street value of $3,600)
  • 24 grams of Marijuana (street value of $480)
  • over $3,700 in cash, which was believed to be proceeds from previous drug sales

In addition, detectives served the search warrant at 198 Old Friedensburg Road, Exeter Township and seized the following items:

  • 246.5 grams of Methamphetamine (street value of $25,000)
  • 74 grams of Heroin (street value of $22,000)
  • 55 grams of Cocaine (street value of $2,200)
  • 22 grams of Marijuana (street value of $440)
  • 57 Xanax pills
  • 18 8mg Suboxone strips
  • 1 digital gram scale
  • $5,000 in U.S. Currency (believed to be proceeds from previous drug sales)
  • documents pertaining to King & Swisher
  • drug paraphernalia

As the investigation continued, on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, based on information received and investigation conducted, the Berks County Drug Task Force Detectives obtained a second sealed search warrant from a Berks County Common Pleas Judge for a storage unit on Morgantown Road, Reading, PA. Detectives determined that the renter of the storage unit was the defendant, James King.

Detectives served the search warrant on the storage unit and seized the following items:

  • 450 grams of Methamphetamine (street value of $45,000)
  • 310 grams of Heroin (street value of $93,000)
  • 360 grams of Marijuana (street value of $7,200)
  • $10,000 in U.S. Currency (believed to be proceeds from previous drug sales)
  • One 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun
  • one 22 caliber rifle
  • two 12 gauge shotguns
  • one Body Armor Ballistic Vest
  • 12 gauge Shotgun & 22 caliber ammunitions
  • drug paraphernalia related to the distribution of controlled substances

The defendants, JAMES EDWARD KING & NIKKI RAE SWISHER, were transported to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department Central Processing Center for processing and arraignment. They were charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana and related offenses. District Judge Raymond S. Sheller of Lancaster County set bail at $500,00 on each defendant. They were unable to post bail and are currently incarcerated in Lancaster County Prison.

On Friday, April 21, 2017, the Berks County Drug Task Force Detectives Office filed the above-listed charges on the defendants. At a later date, the defendants will be transported to the Berks County Sheriff's Department Processing Center for processing and arraignment. Additional bail will be set at that time.
