SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN RELATED TO THE DISSEMINATION & POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Brendan Geier, age 19
On September 21, 2018, the Berks County Detective’s Office received a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). This complaint involved the possession and uploading of Child Pornography through “Skype”.
The Berks County Detectives learned that “Microsoft” reported to NCMEC that someone utilized an I.P. address to upload (7) seven digital images of suspected Child Pornography. The I.P. address was identified and that information was provided to the Berks County Detectives Office. The upload of the images occurred on Monday, September 17, 2018.
On October 1, 2018, the Berks County Detectives Office learned that the I.P. address and device which was utilized to upload the (7) seven digital images of suspected Child Pornography was associated with the defendant Brendan Geier.
On November 9, 2018, members of the Berks County Detectives and the Kutztown University Police Department served a search warrant on the defendant’s residence, which was a room located at Lehigh Hall, Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
As a result of this search warrant, the Berks County Detectives seized a laptop computer as well as an iPhone.
A forensic examination was conducted on these devices. The forensic examination yielded numerous digital images of suspected Child Pornography.
On March 12, 2019, the Berks County Detectives Office filed criminal charges against the defendant, Brendan Geier, at Magisterial District Judge Gail Greth’s Office.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, the defendant surrendered to the Berks County Detectives at their office. He was accompanied by his attorney.
The defendant, Brendan Geier, was escorted down to the Central Processing Center and turned over to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department. He was fingerprinted and photographed.
Bail was set at $25,000. He remains free on bail awaiting further court action.
Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty is an accusation.
