Defendant: Tyler P. McKenrick, age 21
Charges: Aggravated Assault & Endangering the Welfare of Children
On December 8, 2016, the Berks County Investigative Grand Jury issued a presentment recommending the arrest of Tyler Paul McKenrick of Boyertown for the following violations of Title 18 of the PA Crimes Code:
- Aggravated Assault (Felony 1), Section 2702(a)(9) - victim less than 13 years of age
- Aggravated Assault (Felony 2), Section 2702(a)(8) - victim less than 6 years of age
- Endangering the Welfare of Children (Felony 3), Section 4304(a)(1)
On December 9, 2016, the presentment was accepted by the Honorable Thomas G. Parisi, Supervising Judge of the Fourth Investigative Grand Jury. The Commonwealth was authorized to prosecute the charges as recommended in the presentment.
On December 14, 2016, based on the facts and the information obtained through the testimony, Detective Frank DeBellis from the Berks County District Attorney's Child Abuse Unit obtained a warrant of arrest for McKenrick. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Thomas Gauby.
On December 15, 2016, the defendant surrendered to Berks County detectives at their office. He was escorted to the Berks County Sheriff's Department Processing Center for processing and video arraignment. Bail was set at $150,000. The defendant secured bail and was released.
