Charges Filed in Cold Case Homicide Investigation
On October 10, 2013, the Berks County Investigative Grand Jury issued a presentment recommending the arrest of Eugene Jimenez for Murder of the First Degree, Murder of the Third Degree, Aggravated Assault, Endangering the Welfare of Children, and Simple Assault.
On October 16, 2013, the present was accepted by the Honorable Thomas G. Parisi, Supervising Judge of the Investigative Grand Jury.
On October 17, 2013, based on the facts and the information obtained through the testimony, Detective(s) from the District Attorney's Crime Unit obtained a warrant of arrest for Eugene Jimenez. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Alvin Robinson.
Eugene Jimenez is accused of causing the death of his son (initials of A.J.). According to the findings and conclusions of a forensic pathologist, A.J.'s cause of death is directly resulting from "coma and pneumonia, complicating unexplained [existing] and fresh subdural hemorrhaging; other significant conditions: healing rib, left arm and right leg fractures[.]" The cause of the injuries was consistent with non-accidental trauma.
