The County of Berks is pleased to share that the U.S. Small Business Administration announced that it will be offering disaster assistance to businesses and residents in Berks County that were affected by the remnants of Hurrican Ida between September 1st -3rd, 2021.
Berks County businesses and residents can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA to repair or replace damaged real estate and property. The SBA will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Berks County to assist with questions about the disaster loan program and help individuals complete their applications.
The Center will officially open on October 8, from noon to 6:00 PM, at the Berks County Fire Training Center, 895 Morgantown Rd, Reading. Hours of operation will be as follows:
- Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (except Monday, October 11, in observance of Columbus Day)
- Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
The center will permanently close at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 21.
Businesses and private non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged buildings, inventory, equipment, and other losses, while homeowners can request loans up to $200,000 for damaged real estate and up to $40,000 for damaged personal property, including vehicles.
The deadline to return applications for physical property damage is December 6, 2021.
