ADA Paratransit Service
If you have a disability that prevents you from using the BARTA fixed route bus service you will be provided with an ADA Paratransit eligibility form to complete. BARTA Special Services, along with their sub-contractors, provide door-to-door transportation for clients who are not capable of utilizing the BARTA fixed bus route service. Transportation is provided on wheelchair accessible vehicles Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you need a ride to an appointment, you should call BARTA as soon as possible after it is scheduled. For regular appointments, you must call BARTA at least two working days in advance to arrange a ride. You will need to provide the date and time of your appointment, where you need to go and how long the appointment will last (if you know). You should report any special needs, for example, if you need an escort to go with you.
If you need to cancel a trip, you must call BARTA Special Services Division at least an hour prior to your scheduled pick-up time. After office hours you should leave a message on the answering machine. Failure to cancel your trip will result in a "no-show" and no transportation will be provided for the day. Continuous "no-shows" can result in suspension of service.
