As his Swedish father in 17th century Philadelphia, Mouns Jones was a licensed Indian Trader, particularly in the newly settled area of the Manatawny/Monocacy Creeks. Like Conrad Weiser, he spoke the native’s language, and Jones traded actively with them. He was also a contributor to the treaties enacted during Penn’s era. Join historian Larry Ward as he presents newly found information about Mouns Jones, the first European to settle in the Berks County area. There will also be discussion of the various treaties enacted during the Penn era, prior to 1767 and the start of the French and Indian War.
