BERKS COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MISSION STATEMENT

The Berks County Planning Commission performs work mandated by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, prepares the County’s Regional Plan, reviews local and regional projects for consistency with approved plans, coordinates both transit and highway planning, does special projects at the direction of the Board of Commissioners, and lends technical assistance to other County agencies, the public, local governments, and developers.  The Commission also functions as an important repository of information concerning the County and is the local affiliate of the Pennsylvania State Data Center and the Bureau of the Census.  The Commission encourages standards and regulations that preserve important natural and community assets and results in a high-quality built environment.  To that end we employ a staff of professional planners and technicians.
