Founded in 1953, the Brecknock Township Fire Company provides the primary fire and emergency services protection for the community. The fire company, located at 1153 Kurtz Mill Road (Rt. 568) and Ziegler Lane just east of Alleghenyville, has four pieces of apparatus consisting of a 2000 Pierce/Freightliner Engine with a 1500 GPM pump, 1,000-gallon water tank, and a 30-gallon Class-A foam tank and foam injection system, a 1995 E-One/Freightliner rescue truck, a 1979 Ford 3,000-gallon tanker, and a 1962 GMC brush truck.
If you have an emergency, you are urged to dial 911. When you call, be sure to give the dispatcher your name, your street address number and road name, and the nearest intersecting street name.
The Brecknock Township Fire Company is a volunteer organization, proud of its history, equipment, and service to the community. Last year the fire company responded to more than 120 calls for help. Volunteers are needed to fill positions in both the emergency services and business segments of the fire company.
Volunteering can be difficult, but the benefits can be very rewarding. If you are interested, you are encouraged to stop by the fire company to look around and hopefully become involved as an active member of the fire company and your community.
