Announcements: FINAL STORM UPDATE FROM METED

Title

FINAL STORM UPDATE FROM METED

Body

Where are we? On Day 6 of Hurricane Sandy storm restoration, Met-Ed has restored service to more than 260,000 of the 270,000 total customers affected. Berks County currently has less than 500 customers without power. We expect nearly all customers to be back by this evening; but with storms of this magnitude there are always a few unusual situations. We are reaching that point, as we do with every major storm, where things seem to slow down as the remaining outages require large amounts of repair and resources to restore small numbers of customers. As we work to complete restoration it is vital that anyone who has NOT reported their outage do so at 1-888-LIGHTSS or 1-888-544-4877. (Believe it or not, there are always a few!) If it seems that power has been restored to the neighbors but just one home is still without service, it wouldn’t hurt to place another call to Met-Ed. Polling Places All Berks County polling places served by Met-Ed have power. All polling places in the southern portion of Lehigh County served out of Met-Ed’s Hamburg office have power. Safety As we wrap up storm restoration let’s not lose our focus on safety. That’s what we tell our employees and the crews from out of state that are here to help. People are tired and frustrated but keep your eye on what’s important. It doesn’t matter how quickly power is restored if someone gets hurt. So far, Met-Ed has had no safety incidents. Let’s keep it that way. More weather coming? FirstEnergy meteorologist Pete Manousas has been watching this new coastal storm for days. He is predicting a few gusts of 10-20mph winds and .2 - .4” of rain sometime between noon Wednesday and dawn Thursday. While we are keeping an eye on this new weather threat, we currently are not anticipating it will have major impact on our restoration efforts. All of us at Met-Ed want to thank our customers for their patience as they coped with power outages. We thank them for the gratitude and courtesies they extended to the men and women working around the clock to reverse the damage caused to our communities by this truly extraordinary weather event. THANK YOU. This is my last Hurricane Sandy Storm Restoration update.
