Announcements: WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS for KENHORST BOROUGH

Title

WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS for KENHORST BOROUGH

Body

• The Mayor will declare a Snow Emergency when a storm is predicted to exceed 3 inches. In a declared Snow Emergency, all Snow Emergency Routes will restrict parking per Ordinance #433 as amended. Plowing is conducted curb to curb along the snow emergency routes. Vehicles that remain parked along a Snow Emergency Route will be ticketed. The license number and location of repeat offender vehicles will be kept in a database for future citations and/or towing. • Vehicles will be allowed to return only after the Mayor lifts the Snow Emergency. The emergency routes are: New Holland Road, South Kenhorst Boulevard, all Borough streets marked as “Snow Emergency Route” and Columbia Avenue. • It is best to make a plan as to where to park your vehicle if you will be away during or in advance of a predicted snow event. Vehicles removed from Snow Emergency Routes onto non-snow emergency streets must adhere to the even/odd policy in effect at the time. • Vehicles parked on all non-emergency routes must move from the even side to the odd side of the street or into their driveways at the onset of a storm. • Plowing will begin at 3 inch snow depth. • After snow stops, and crews have cleared to the curb on the even side of the street, all vehicles must move to the now cleared side of the street so that crews can clear the odd side of the street to the curb. After streets are plowed, intersections will be cleared and storm drains opened provided there is room to get equipment in safely. • Residents who cast snow onto the plowed road will be fined, “No Warnings, No Exceptions”. • All property owners must remove snow and ice from adjoining sidewalks within 12 hours after a storm event ends and are asked to keep nearby fire hydrants cleared. • Please be patient! The public works crew will clear all roads as soon as possible, but the first priority is to clear the roads for emergency vehicles.
