Route 724/Phila. Ave Bridge Repair Project - Public Meeting September 30th

Members of the public are invited to attend a meeting to learn more about the proposed Route 724/Philadelphia Avenue bridge repair project.  The preliminary project plans will be available for viewing between September 30th and October 10th during regular business hours at the Kenhorst Borough and Cumru Township offices.

The public meeting date is Tuesday, September 30th at 7PM at the Cumru Township office located at 1775 Welsh Road, Mohnton, PA  19540.

Please see the attached flyer for more information about the meeting and the bridge repair project.

Have you completed your Kenhorst Borough 2014 Real Estate Registry form??  ALL Kenhorst Borough resident owners and rental property owners are required to complete a real estate registry form each year in order for the Borough to maintain accurate tax and utility billing records (per Ordinance #562).

If you have already submitted your form this year, Council thanks you for your cooperation.  If you have not, forms are available at the Borough Hall and also here on our website.  Completed forms can be mailed, faxed, scanned and emailed or directly deposited in the drop box located next to the main entrance to Borough Hall.  To date, we have received completed forms from approximately 92% of Borough property owners.  We would like 100% compliance - please help us meet our goal!

NOTE:  While the Borough hopes to avoid such action, property owners who do not submit the required real estate registry information will be  subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000 plus costs, and in default of payment thereof imprisonment, not to exceed 30 days.

Tuesday yard waste pickups resumed in March this year and will continue through Tuesday, December 9, 2014.  Residents are encouraged to put grass clippings, weeds, bush/shrubbery clippings and small branches (bundled, no longer than 4 feet in length and weighing less than 40 pounds) out for pickup.  Our trash hauler prefers that yard waste be put in brown paper, biodegradable bags but can also be put loose in open trash containers.  Brown paper biodegradable bags are available at home supply centers such as Sears Hardware, Lowe's and Home Depot.
Questions can be directed to the Borough Office at 610-777-7327 or Eagle Disposal at 717-355-9560.
Many Kenhorst property owners have been approached recently by contractors regarding the possible need for their roof to be replaced due to damage resulting from the May hail storm.
Property owners and contractors are reminded of the following:
A building permit is required if 25% or more of the roof is being replaced.  Siding and gutter work does not require a permit.  Roof permit application forms can be obtained at the Borough Office or accessed online:
The cost for a roof permit is $74.00 and must be applied for and approved prior to the start of work.  Per Borough Ordinance, the permit fee will be doubled if work is begun prior to the permit being issued.
Kenhorst Borough requires that a permit be obtained before any sales representative is authorized to solicit door-to-door.  Property owners are strongly encouraged to ask to see a Borough Solicitation permit which will clearly state the specific date that the permit is approved for.  Contact the Reading Police immediately at 610-655-6111 or 610-655-6116 if you are solicited by someone who cannot produce their approved Kenhorst Solicitation permit.
Please contact the Borough Office with any questions at 610-777-7327 or email
