Candidates Sought for Service on Township Advisory Boards - March 31, 2014

The Muhlenberg Township Board of Commissioners is seeking interested candidates for appointment to fill current vacancies on the Civil Service Commission, Arts Board, Parks and Recreation Board  and the Planning Commission   All candidates  for appointment except for the Arts Board must be Township residents.  All positions are unpaid.

The three member  Civil Service Commission oversees the hiring and promotion process in the Township Police Department. The Civil Service Commission meets only as needed.

The seven member Parks and Recreation Board provides guidance to the Board of Commissioners and staff about the planning and management of a full service Department providing parks, facilities  and recreation programming.  Candidates should be passionate about community parks and services; be available to attend meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 PM; and willing to help with community events.

The seven member Planning Commission works closely with Engineering  Department staff  to review proposed subdivision & land development plans and provide recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for final action. A candidate with a planning, civil engineering or landscape architecture background is preferred but not required. The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 PM.
