The Sounds of the Season
One of the staples of the Holiday Season in Muhlenberg Township is the Muhlenberg Community Chorus Christmas Concert. This community group has been entertaining the Township for decades and this year is no exception. The chorus will be performing their Holiday presentation and will feature guest musicians. This free concert will surely put you in the Christmas mood with new and old favorites alike. The concert will be held at the Muhlenberg Middle School from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sat. December 12 (snow date Dec. 19.) If you are interested in joining the Muhlenberg Community Chorus, you are always welcome to meet them on Mondays at Grace Alsace UCC Church, 2151 Kutztown Rd from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Holiday Decorating
With a Winning Twist
The Muhlenberg Township Arts Board sponsors their yearly House Decorating Contest with beautiful results.

Holiday decorating is a family tradition for many of our Township residents. Many of the homes in our area during the holidays are quite a display. The Arts Board will be sponsoring their annual Halloween/Holiday House Decorating Contest this year with prizes for the top winners. The Rules for the contest are as follows:

1) All contestants must live within the Muhlenberg School District. The District may be divided into zones if the number of entries is high. 2) All decorating must be done by the homeowner, not a professional decorator. 3) Entry deadline is Oct. 16 at 12 noon for the Halloween contest and judging will occur on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.. Entry deadline is Dec. 11 at 12 noon for the Holiday contest and judging will occur on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. by the Arts Board. Homeowners are encouraged to designate in what category they would like to be considered, but the Arts Board has the right to reassign the category.

Halloween Categories include: Whimsical/Creative – display has hand designed elements; moving decorations; use of music. Holiday Spirit - display includes most or all aspects of home and yard. Haunting – display has a scary or ghoulish theme. Fall/Harvest - display exhibits colors and items indicative of the fall season. Contemporary - display has a creative use of inflatables.

Holiday Categories include: Whimsical/Creative – display has hand designed elements; moving decorations; use of music. Holiday Spirit - display includes all or most aspects of home and yard. Classic/ Nostalgic – displays utilizes traditional elements in decorating. Contemporary - display has a creative uses of inflatables.

4) To enter simply call 610-929-4727 and state that you want to enter the house contest and leave your name, address and phone number, and in what category you are entering OR you could email 5) Winners will be notified by either Oct. 21 or Dec. 16 and a photo of their home will be posted on the Township website and/or in the winter edition of the Township News. 6) All contestants grant Muhlenberg Township the nonexclusive right to use a photo of their decorated home, as well as their name and address in the Township’s Recreation News, the website, and/or future promotional materials.
