The Muhlenberg Township Police Department is again teaming up with the Bern Township and Northern Berks Regional Police Departments to present the 4th Annual Citizen Police Academy.
The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is a great opportunity for the residents of our communities to go behind the scenes and experience the jobs of police officers. CPA attendees will become familiar with the functions of a police department, learn legal issues police deal with, and other topics such as; use of force, vehicle code, crimes code, ethics, DUI, accident investigations, criminal investigations and police equipment. CPA attendees will also learn the workings of the 911 system, the court system and coroner’s office.
The CPA will be held every Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Twp. Municipal Building at 210 George St., beginning February 09, 2016, and continue every Tuesday for the next eight weeks. There will be an optional Weapons Familiarization class on Saturday, March 26th. The 2016 Citizen Police Academy is open to all residents of Bern Twp., Maidencreek Twp., Muhlenberg Twp., Leesport Boro. and Ontelaunee Twp., who are 18 years of age and older.
