Muhlenberg Township Preliminary 2015 Budget

The Board of Commissioners approved a Preliminary Budget at their meeting on Monday, November 17th. This budget is available for review by:
1) clicking on the following link for a PDF version of the Preliminary Budget.
2) Stopping by the Municipal Office at 5401 Leesport Avenue Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am and 430pm.

Eliminated four (4) vacant full-time positions of Police Officer, Customer Service Representative, Property Maintenance Code Officer and a Zoning Officer.

Reduced spending for capital projects and equipment purchases by over $1 million dollars from this year.

Allocation of $786,760 from cash reserves and a 0.2 mill real estate tax increase to balance the budget. The added 0.2 mills of tax represents a $20 increase per year for homeowners with an assessed property value of $100,000.

NO change to the fire protection tax which is used to support the fire protection services provided by the Goodwill and Temple Volunteer Fire Companies.

NO change to the Trash and Recycling fee plus the Township will continue the popular senior citizen discount program.

$600,000 for the Temple Fire Company to purchase a new pumper replacing a 1981 truck.

Borrowing at low interest rates to make road improvements over the next three years. The first projects scheduled for completion in late 2015 or early 2016 are portions of Madison Avenue, Stoudt’s Ferry Bridge Road and Hay Road.

Final adoption of the 2015 Budget will be considered by the Board of Commissioners at their December 15th meeting.
