This group has an active membership of people 60+ years of age that live in and around the Muhlenberg area. Each month they attend a regular meeting that has a speaker/ program at the Recreation Building on River Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on the fourth Monday of the month. Membership is $5/ year and $2 for each meeting that you attend. Below are some activities planned for the upcoming months. If you have any questions contact Karen by calling 610.929.4727.
Monday, January 25: Steve Walker will sing popular fun songs, from country to classical with guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele and harmonica. He will get your toes tapping, face smiling and heart singing.
Monday, February 22: ROAD TRIP to the Muhlenberg Community Library for this meeting. Rodney Loose, Retired FBI agent with the NYC office, was retired at the time of 9/11, but worked for several weeks at Ground Zero following the incident. Come hear his stories of the time when our country was in crisis and what happened near the fallen towers. This program will be at the Library and the public is welcome to attend. Spread the word to your friends. After the program you have the opportunity of going to Margharita’s for a spaghetti dinner to support the Library. The cost of the ticket is $12. $5 of that goes directly to the Muhlenberg Library. Tickets will be sold the day of the event. The dinner includes spaghetti, choice of meatball or sausage, salad, bread and a fountain drink.
Monday, March 28: Mark Rozzi, PA state representative of the 126th District will update us on the happenings in the State House. He would like to hear from you, "the seniors of the community", as well. Please bring your questions or concerns.
Wednesday, April 6: Mary Bach is an advocate for seniors across the state of PA. Her topic will be, "Are you getting what you paid for"? She will tell you stories of the retail marketplace, how product size has decreased, but the price has not; how she sued big companies for their wrongful consumer practices. She will be educational as well as interesting. The public is invited to attend. This program will be held at the Muhlenberg Township Building from 10 to 11 a.m.
Monday, April 25: Fred Moll will talk about the Covered Bridges of Berks County. You will be amazed at the number of covered bridges there are in Berks County.
Monday, May 23: Mindfulness and Hypnosis in Daily Life presented by Zane Szurgot. While most people think of hypnosis as something silly from what they have learned in the movies, it’s actually a healing-oriented practice and is only meant to help individuals become healthier and less stressed. Zane is a registered nurse with a Master of Science in Nursing and is learned in psychology, health education and stress control. Come learn about how you can become healthier and happier thru mindfulness and hypnosis.
