Golden Muhls
Berks County > Municipalities > Muhlenberg Township

This group has an active membership of people 60+ years of age that live in and around the Muhlenberg area. Each month they attend a regular meeting that has a speaker/ program. We also try to plan social type or volunteer activities throughout the month. Below are some activities planned for the upcoming months. Membership is $5/ year and $2 for each meeting that you attend. If you have any questions contact Karen by calling 610-685-0630.

General Meetings are held at the Recreation Building located at 3025 River Road from 10a.m. to 12noon on the 4th Monday of the month (unless listed otherwise). Limited handicap parking is available if you go around to the back of the building.

Jan. 27: Lori Schermerhorn of the Vision Resource Center of Berks County will talk about what that agency has to offer. Please bring any vision related questions with you….maybe she will have the answer or can suggest where you can find help. Also Shanna Kline of the Muhlenberg Community Library will be with us to talk about programs at our local Library. Shanna is the Youth Services Coordinator and she deals with programs for children up to age 12.

Feb. 24: Martha Sitler will present a program on the Race for Healthy Hearts at the beginning of the meeting; then in the later part Sergeant Joel Marino will be with us to discuss self-defense for seniors. He will give pointers on improvised weapons, prevention techniques, and being safe.

Mar. 31: NOTE: This is the fifth Monday of the month. Mary Bach is BACK!!! This year she will share her knowledge about "It’s Your Money"!! From sweepstakes and lottery scams to identity theft and investment fraud, the con artist trys to stay just one step ahead of us. We even have to be careful when we shop, because of marketplace deception and a lack of consumer protection. We can no longer trust what we hear from someone trying to get their hand into our wallet or bank account. Consumers must be pro-active in protecting our hard-earned money by being aware and informed about current scams and frauds. Join AARP educational presentation filled with tips and practical information.

April 28: Key of Life in Reading will provide musical organ entertainment and members of this group will showcase their talent for your musical enjoyment.

May 19: NOTE: This is the third Monday due to Memorial Day. Program TBA.
