The total amount of the real estate tax each household pays is determined by your assessed valuation. The township tax is 4.8 mills or $4.80 per $1,000 of assessed value and represents less than 12% of your total property taxes. If your house is assessed at $100,000, you pay $480 annually for which you receive the following services: police protection, street lighting, road maintenance, park and recreation activities, etc. A dedicated portion of the real estate tax supports the Goodwill and Temple volunteer fire departments.
It should also be noted that 1/2 of all monies generated from the township business privilege tax, local services tax and earned income tax are designated for the school system.
