PA Cheifs of Police Association Accreditation
In July 2004, the Muhlenberg Township Police Department became one of twenty departments in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to be accredited by the PA chiefs of Police Association. With this achievement, we join in designation with police agencies such as the PA State Police, Harrisburg Bureau of Police, Abington Twp. Police and Derry Twp. Police.
Accreditation is an ongoing process whereby the Muhlenberg Township Police Department will evaluate existing policies and procedures against established criteria set by the PA Chiefs of Police Association. To maintain this status, the department will be re-assessed every three years. The main benefit of accreditation is the recognition associated with achieving the higher standards set forth by the PA Chiefs of Police Association.
Our entire Police Department has strived towards the PA Chiefs of Police Association's accreditation standards for several years. We would like to commend the Sergeants and patrolmen who contributed to the effort, and a special recognition should be given to Secretary Monna Somerday for her hard work and diligence in pursuing this goal.
