NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF THE FOLLOWING BERKS COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES:

The Township of Brecknock, the Township of Cumru, the Borough of Mohnton, the City of Reading, the Borough of Shillington, the Township of Spring, the Borough of West Reading, and the Borough of Wyomissing;

Portions of the aforelisted municipalities are located within the WYOMISSING CREEK WATERSHED, which is subject to a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for excess sediment loading to the stream and is therefore required, in association with the upcoming 2018-2023 Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Individual Permitting, to begin the process of improving water quality by remediating the sediment pollution. The eight (8) municipalities have formed the WYOMISSING CREEK WATERSHED COALITION (WCWC), a joint intermunicipal organization with the goal of complying with the regulations in a coordinated and cost-effective manner. The WCWC has prepared a draft of the required TMDL Implementation Plan, a physical copy of which is available for public review at the following locations:

Written comments may be submitted to Mohnton Borough Hall, 21 O’Neil Street, Mohnton, PA 19540 Attention "Wyomissing Creek TMDL" or submitted via email to "wyomissingcreekprp@wyomissingboro.org", Subject line "Wyomissing Creek TMDL"

Additionally, a public hearing will be held at the WCWC’s regular August meeting, held at 2:00 pm on August the 22nd, 2017, at the Spring Township Building, 2850 Windmill Road, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 to receive any additional public comment on the plan.

The comment period will be open from July 28, 2017 to August 30, 2017.

You may take your discarded electronics to the Berks County Solid Waste Authority Recycling Center, 1316 Hilltop Road, Bern Township on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

CodeRED Emergency Alert System

The Borough of Shillington has instituted a new rapid emergency notification service called CodeRED®. By registering, you’ll be added to the emergency call list. Borough of Shillington residents and water customers are welcome and encouraged to enter their contact information for home, business, and mobile phones so they may be contacted by the system in the event of an emergency. Those who do not register their address and phone number may not be notified with CodeRED® in the case of an emergency. Registration is confidential, free, easy and will be for emergency notification only.

After Hours Water or Sewer Problem:

If you experience a water or sewer problem when the Town Hall is closed, please call the Berks County Radio System at 610-655-4911 and give the information on your problem.  A Shillington Police Officer or a representative from the Borough  will be in touch with you.
