ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING
Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 PM
The lighting will be held at the Shillington Town Hall. The rain date is Thursday, December 5, at 7:00 PM. Music performances by the Governor Mifflin Senior High. Hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Shillington Business Association, Santa transported by the Shillington Fire Company.
Please bring non-perishable food items, paper products and cleaning supplies for the Mifflin Community Food Ministry.

COUNCIL MEETING - The next regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Shillington Borough Council is Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 7:30 PM
LEAF COLLECTION - Leaf collection in the Borough has begun and will continue through December 13, 2019. Loose leaves should be placed along the curb for collection. Grass clippings, sticks and other yard debris may not be mixed with the leaves, as the Borough's leaf collection equipment is not capable of picking up such items. Leaf collection crews will cover the Borough on a continuing basis. The leaf collection trucks will be collecting the larger piles of leaves while the street sweeper will clean up the rest.
CodeRED Emergency Alert System
The Borough of Shillington has instituted a new rapid emergency notification service called CodeRED®. By registering, you’ll be added to the emergency call list. Borough of Shillington residents and water customers are welcome and encouraged to enter their contact information for home, business, and mobile phones so they may be contacted by the system in the event of an emergency. Those who do not register their address and phone number may not be notified with CodeRED® in the case of an emergency. Registration is confidential, free, easy and will be for emergency notification only.
AN IMPORTANT REMINDER TO RESIDENTS:
No person owning or occupying any property within the Borough of Shillington shall permit any grass or weeds or any vegetation whatsoever, not edible or planted for some useful or ornamental purpose, to grow or remain upon such premises so as to exceed a height of eight inches; nor shall any noxious weeds prohibited by the Noxious Weed Control Law, 3 P.S. § 255.8, or by regulations of the Department of Agriculture be permitted to grow within the Borough of Shillington.
Please maintain your property by cutting your grass and weeds.
Additionally, it is unlawful to blow or place grass clippings in the street. Please clean up immediately any grass that has been blow into the street. Thank you!
JUST A REMINDER FOR PET OWNERS:
It shall be unlawful for the owner, handler, custodian, or keeper of any animal to allow any such animal under such person's control to defile or defecate on any sidewalk, walkway, roadway, street, or property of another person. It shall be the duty of such owner, handler, custodian, or keeper of any animal that defecates on any sidewalk, walkway, roadway, street, or property of another to promptly clean up and remove all feces discharged and to dispose of such feces in a lawful and sanitary manner.
The Shillington Tree Advisory Committee will be planting trees in the fall of 2019. If you are a Shillington resident and you wish to have a tree planted along the curb line of your property, please contact the Tree Advisory Committee to be added to their list.

REMINDER...It's the Law: Electronics must be Recycled
You may take your discarded electronics to the Berks County Solid Waste Authority Recycling Center, 1316 Hilltop Road, Bern Township on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
After Hours Water or Sewer Problem:
If you experience a water or sewer problem when the Town Hall is closed, please call the Berks County Radio System at 610-655-4911 and give the information on your problem. A Shillington Police Officer or a representative from the Borough will be in touch with you.
