BOROUGH OF SINKING SPRING TAXPAYERS
***STOP THE PPL POWER LINE***
PPL Electric Utilities has decided to build a new 1.3-mile power line through Sinking Spring Borough, Spring Township and Lower Heidelberg Township.
The Borough has invested millions of dollars into the plan to rebuild our downtown. PPL Electric Utilities is planning on installing a high power overhead line through the heart of our purposed Downtown Revitalization Project area. Installation of this power line could result in the failure of the development of the Downtown Revitalization Project moving forward, resulting in higher taxes for the borough residents.
This could have a negative impact on property values along the purposed route. This also raises environmental concerns related to the clearing of trees and farmland. There are also safety concerns with the stability of the ground to support these large structures and increased health risks associated with the close proximity to these power lines. These large metal high tension poles and wires that will be going through the center of our town will be an eyesore to the Borough.
The proposed line will have very little, if any, benefit to the residents of the Borough of Sinking Spring. The line is to provide better service to the commercial properties along the State Hill corridor of Spring Township and Wyomissing Borough.
Your elected State officials, Senator David Argall and Representative Jim Cox have opposed the placement of PPL’s new power line route.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
PPL has scheduled an open house for next Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Inn at Reading, 1040 N. Park Road, Wyomissing. There will be no set agenda and no formal presentation.
All Sinking Spring Borough property owners and residents are urged to attend this public forum and voice their opposition to the PPL Power Line Project as this could result in a negative impact to the future of our Borough.
Call the PPL Project Hot Line to voice your opposition at 855-740-9986.
