Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Borough of Sinking Spring is looking to hire an additional Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator. The Operator will be responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the 1.25 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant, collection and conveyance system, satellite pump station, maintaining compliance with required regulatory agencies, and monitoring and assisting wastewater personnel. It is preferred that the candidate have a minimum of 3 years direct involvement of treatment plant operations, pump stations, and collection systems. Candidate must possess a current Pennsylvania Class B Operators License, Class E Collection and Conveyance System with Sub Classification 1 (Activated Sludge) and Sub Classification 4(Collection System). A valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License Class B, with the air and tank endorsements or the ability to acquire it within 120 Days, and a clean driving record. During the winter snow season, Borough employees work long hours in an effort to clear the roadways of snow and ice to make the streets safe for motorists. Please assist them in their efforts by obeying the following regulations:
Declaration of Snow Emergency - Parking Prohibitions:
In order to facilitate the movement of traffic and to combat the hazards of excessive snow and ice, the Mayor may declare an emergency due to such hazards.
After an emergency has been declared, it shall be unlawful, during the period of such emergency, for any person to park a vehicle, or to allow the same to remain parked, on the entire length of the following roadways: Columbia Avenue, Mull Avenue, Penn Avenue, Woodrow Avenue and Shillington Road.
Alternate Side Parking:
A. During the course of any snowfall with accumulations in excess of three inches, parking shall be prohibited on the uneven-numbered(house numbers) side of all Borough streets until such time as plowing is completed on said side of the street.
B. 24 hours following the end of the snowstorm(when the snow has stopped), parking shall be prohibited on the even-numbered(house numbers) side of all Borough streets, and on Vester Place in its entirety, until such time as plowing is completed on said streets.
Streets: No person shall shovel, push or plow snow from the sidewalk, driveway or other areas into the street.
Sidewalks: Within 24 hours after any snowfall shall have ceased or ice has formed, the owner or occupant of any premises shall clear a 30-inch path over such sidewalk.
