Upper Tulpehocken Township Recycling
Berks County > Municipalities > Upper Tulpehocken Township

Upper Tulpehocken Township residents and non-residents that would like to participate in the UTT Recycling Program are asked to complete the Recycling Application to obtain a key fob for entrance into the recycling center.

Please remember: Place items in designated bins. It is never appropriate to leave recyclables or any type of trash outside the drop-off containers. This ongoing practice creates added Township expenses every month. If the bin is full, please take your recyclables back home with you and contact the municipal office.
Acceptable materials for recycling at Upper Tulpehocken Township include:

Glass- clear, green, and, brown bottles and jars

Plastics- #1 - #7, bottles and containers only

Aluminum Cans- food and beverage cans only

Bi-Metal Cans- any food containers

Mixed paper- newspaper, magazines, phone books, junk mail, office paper, lightweight cardboard, catalogs.Aluminum cans are also being accepted in the fenced in area next to the township garage, to benefit the Strausstown Fire Company.  Cans can be dropped off anytime during the month.  This is an ongoing fundraiser for the fire company.

The township also recycles printer ink cartridges. Empty cartridges can be dropped off in the township office foyer during regular office hours.
Upper Tulpehocken also collects old cell phones to be donated to "Secure the Call Foundation" for use as emergency 911 phones for domestic violence shelters and senior centers.  Old / un-needed cell phones (with batteries) may be dropped off in the township office foyer during regular office hours. No chargers or accessories are accepted.
Christmas Trees are accepted at the township garage in January of each year.  Trees are chipped, as weather allows, and the "mulch" is available free to township residents for non-commercial use at their residence.
Used oil filters can be dropped in the green barrel next to the township garage.  We cannot accept used oil at this time--only the filters and the minimal amount of oil trapped in the filter.  Filters can be dropped off anytime during the month.  A local recycler provides this service to our municipality.
