We invite you to attend our services - Saturday Encounter Worship at 5:00 p.m. in the Christian Education Building or Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Nursery care for children 3 and under is provided at the 10:30 a.m. service. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:00 a.m. Our Bible study group meets weekly on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

You are also invited to join us for a wide variety of community events. Friedens Friends meets the first Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. for a shared meal and program. A grief support group meets each Monday at noon for those who have suffered a loss. Participants share a meal and process their concerns together.

We are currently looking for a Minister of Music. If you know of anyone who is interested in either of the positions, please have him/her check our website for more information. We welcome our new administrative assistant, Audra Schreiner, who comes to us from Shoemakersville. You may know her from her previous work at the Hamburg Area Middle School. On November 26th, Friedens will be hosting a confirmation class reunion for the classes of 2006-2012 (ages 18-24). Catch up with old friends over dinner up at church. Please RSVP on our Facebook event!

The Advent Season begins on November 27th. Each Sunday leading to Christmas, we celebrate by lighting a new candle on the advent wreath in our sanctuary and for many of us, in our homes. December starts off with the Winter Carnival. If you haven't attended in the past, this should be your year. It will be held on Saturday the 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and includes music, food, horse drawn sleigh rides to Santa’s workshop, petting zoo and games for the children. This is our special gift to our community and all activities and food are free! Our "Longest Night" Service will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 11:30 a.m. This year, other congregations from the Northern Berks Ministerium will be joining us. Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member; it may be a time that has been difficult for many years. Come join with us in sharing and hearing prayers, Scripture, and music that acknowledges that God's presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle . . . and that God's Word comes to shine light into our darkness. Everyone, regardless of church background (or lack of it) is welcome. Our worship will be followed by a light luncheon sponsored by the Grief Support Group.

Christmas Eve Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 24th. This will be the fifth year we celebrate Christmas Eve in our Outdoor Chapel at 5:00 p.m. The way to the chapel is lit by bonfires and the chapel itself is filled with luminaries. Although, last years’ service was rained out, the previous services were amazing, beautiful and a truly extraordinary worship experience. Hot chocolate and coffee will again be available to "take off the chill." Our 7:00 p.m. service will be held in our sanctuary and will follow the traditional format. The sanctuary will be filled with music, candles, poinsettias and the joy that surrounds the birth of Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, December 25th, at 9:30 a.m., we will have our traditional "Festival of Lessons and Carols." This will be the only service that day. It is a wonderful time filled with all your favorite hymns of the Christmas season. There will be only one service on New Years’ Day at 9:30 a.m. as well.

On February 28, 2017, Friedens will be attending a Reading Royals game. Tickets are $14.00/person. Let us know if we should save you a spot!!

Ash Wednesday is March 1st and begins our Lenten journey to Easter. For more information about any of the above activities or Friedens Church, please call us or email us. Don’t forget to check our website at www.friedensfolks.org for the latest information. Our office hours are 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. May you have a joyous Christmas and a new year filled with God’s blessings.
