Roadmaster Reports & Roads

ROADMASTER’S REPORT Over the past few months we improved the shoulders along Old 22, replaced pipes on Naftzingertown Road, filled potholes at numerous locations around the township. We resurfaced Peacock Rd and a section of Winterhill Rd. We also repainted the crosswalks in Shartlesville. Please use extreme caution when driving through Shartlesville. Remember, State Law says pedestrians have the right-of-way while crossing the road when in the crosswalks. We will be black-topping over the pipes we replaced on Naftzingertown Road, Industrial Drive and the repairs at the bridge on Skyline once we feel the ground has stopped settling. Hopefully by the time you receive this newsletter we would have repaired the extreme south portion of Valley Rd and repainted the lines on most of the township roads. Just another reminder, we will be trimming more trees along the township roads this fall. As stated in the last newsletter, we respect your property and your trees, however, any branches overhanging in the right-of-way may cause a safety hazard to motorists especially in the winter months with heavy snow or ice on the branches. In most cases the right-of-way is 16ft from the center of the road. Any questions regarding the right-of-way please contact the Roadmaster, Ervin Steinly, Jr. We noticed several places where residents are blowing the grass on the public roads. This may cause a hazard to motorists. Please do not blow your grass onto the public roads.
