WOMELSDORF BOROUGH COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING
Held at 101 W. High Street on
June 18, 2013
This meeting was called to order by Council President Vince Balistrieri at 7:00PM.
Council Members: Carl Liptak, Connie Keller Sheffy, Kyle Hamilton, Jack Hays, Wynn
Herbine, and Vince Balistrieri; Mayor-Jen Gettle, Police Chief-John Reber and Secretary
Motion by Mr. Herbine, second by Mr. Liptak to accept the list of bills to be paid totaling
$22,174.17 as presented. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Hays questioned a pay check
written to Bill Moore at $12.00 per hour. Mr. Balistrieri reported that the Sewer Authority has authorized him to work doing filing and a rate study for the Authority.
Motion by Mr. Hamilton, second by Mr. Hays to accept the June 4, 2013 Council Meeting Minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Herbine, second by Mr. Hays to pay payroll between meetings. Motion carried unanimously.
Detour Signs-detour signs placed at Third and W. High Streets blocking crosswalks and causing difficulty viewing oncoming traffic.
Playground equipment- Town Park equipment is in disrepair. Mr. Liptak and Mr. Hays will meet next Wednesday night to review the park equipment.

Town Park-The bulb was replaced at the pavilion; additional mulch is needed.
Ballfield/Soccer Field-Discussion that the lights are metered. The soccer field is coming along. Mr. Balistrieri reported that the score board control box is being repaired/replaced at no cost to the Borough. A gentleman from Bartush Signs is working on it as well as replacing bulbs in the
Summer Playground-thirty-four children have registered to attend the summer playground program. One of the leaders that was hired has decided not to take the job. In the absence of the
Personnel Chairman, Motion by Mrs. Keller Sheffy, second by Mr. Liptak to hire Sarah Sheffy to help Mr. Richards and Stephanie as a playground leader at $8.25 per hour. Motion carried unanimously.
Pool-The sink trap has been repaired in the concession stand. Discussion on the type of metal scrapers being used. Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Balistrieri will be meeting Brett Mayer on Friday to discuss any problems/concerns with the “Y”. Discussion on the “Y” paying for its camps and playgrounds to use the pool. Council agreed to charge them the same $3.00 per person fee that the other playgrounds pay. A Use of Facilities Form will need to be filed by the “Y” as well as a sign in sheet. Mrs. Keller Sheffy would like Council to look into a Dolphin cleaner for the pool.
Splash Parties-Discussion that splash parties could be held on a Friday or Saturday from 7:00 – 9:00.
Police-The interviews were held for part time police officers, background checks are being conducted and should be completed for the July Council Meeting.
Sign request-Mr. Hays will contact Mr. Gerhart that he may put a sign on his own property in memory of his son.
PennDOT-Mr. Herbine reported that PennDOT is working on the bridge at E. High Street.
Solicitation Permit-Mayor Gettle reported that Anita will not be using the additional two days she had initially requested for the Susan B. Komen Walk.
Auction/Police Items-Mayor Gettle reported that she authorized Chief Reber to purchase items
for the police department at recent auction.
Discussion on over grown tree obstructing the sidewalk at Adams and Washington Streets, and
a deck permit needed on a property on Center Road; these issues will be given to Jamie to address.
With no further business brought before Council, Motion by Mr. Liptak, second by Mr. Hays to adjourn the meeting at 8:25PM. Motion carried unanimously.
