I just thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself. To many of you I am Unknown stranger. The first step in changing that is for me to Tell you a little about myself.
My name is John K. Reber, I was born and raised in Reading and Graduated from Reading High School.
After high school I served in the Navy from 1963 thru 1967, I served in the Pacific and Viet Nam.
After the Navy, I was appointed to the Birdsboro Police Department and after one and a half years I went with The Cumru Twp co. Police where I remained for a short 32 years, during which time I held the ranks of Patrolman, Corporal, Detective, and Sergeant.
I also, While working full time, attended and graduated from Penn State University, and completed some graduate work at West Chester University. I have six children two of which I adopted. In addition, I raised eight foster children and have nine grandchildren.
For the past 6 years I have been employed with the berks Co. sheriff's Office, and on February 5th of last year I have had the privilege of assuming the position As Chief of Police.
