Effective July 1, 2004, the Borough implemented the state wide Uniform Construction Code. The purpose of the code is to establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and to provide safety to firefighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
Ordinance 1247 approved June 8, 2004 adopts the UCC and the associated International Building Codes, replacing the 1996 BOCA Code.
Building Permits and Miscellaneous Permits are required for all construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal, demolition of every building and/or structure occurring in the Borough of Wyomissing.
Compilation Document (Revised Spring, 2006) (This a compilation of building code ordinances or portions of ordinances adopted by the Borough of Wyomissing on or before July 1, 1999, which equal or exceed the requirements of the UCC, and shall continue in full force and effect until such time as such provisions fail to equal or exceed the minimum requirements of the Code, as amended from time to time.)
