The Wyomissing Fire Department is a municipally operated fire department that was formed by the merger of the Wyomissing Fire Company #1 and the Berkshire Heights Fire Company #2 in July, 1992 by Borough Ordinance #1153.  The companies continued to operate from their separate quarters until November 14, 1998, when the apparatus was moved into the current station.  The former Wyomissing station at 1405 Penn Avenue was sold and was converted into commercial/retail space.  The Berkshire Heights building at 808 Park Road North continues to be owned by the Berkshire Heights Fire Company where a social quarters continues to operate.
