EMERGENCY PLANNER

The County of Berks is seeking qualified applicants for the position of EMERGENCY PLANNER.  The emergency planner is a self directed entry level management position responsible for emergency preparedness planning in all aspects of emergency management.  A significant portion of time is dedicated to planning efforts related to the Limerick Nuclear Generating Station.  Additionally, the Emergency Planner is involved in a wide variety of homeland security and other preparedness activities covering all phases of emergency management and must interact with representatives from every level of government and the public.  Qualified candidates will have excellent computer skills, experience assembling and delivering educational presentations; have demonstrated experience organizing complex projects; and have or be able to secure FEMA RAD III Instructor Certification.  Candidate also must be able to pass a comprehensive pre-employment physical at the HazMat Technician level, a criminal history background check, and will be subject to 24 Hr., 7-day emergency call. 

This position requires a BS degree and five years experience in an emergency services field.  Prior experience in emergency planning and/or radiological emergency response functions is preferred.  Candidates are expected to reside, or be willing to relocate to, a location within 30 minutes travel time of the County EOC in the Reading area.
