Welcome to the County of Berks
Welcome to the Recorder of Deeds Office

 Recorder of Deeds News

  • All documents subject to the PA Judicial Fee will include an increase in the State of PA’s Judicial fee effective December 1, 2017. The standard document recording fee will increase from $77.00 to $82.00.  This fee increase was enacted by the PA Legislature and does not go the County. This means the State of PA will collect Fees and taxes of $40.75 on every deed, mortgage and transfer of an ownership interest in property, virtually half of the entire recording fee. We feel this is another way for the PA Legislature to hide a tax increase by calling it a fee.

  • To search our records on-line please begin by clicking the second menu button to the left "search records on-line (register / login)". Every document ever recorded in our office since the birth of our County in 1752 is contained as a computerized image and index on this website. However we have preserved all original record books of handwritten and typed transcriptions from the years 1752 to 1953 and they are available for inspection in our office. From 1953 through 2004 the original records were retained on microfilm also available for inspection, and after that by scanned image backed up on microfilm.
