SNOW REMOVAL INFORMATION
{Borough Snow Plow}

Please keep a few things in mind during and after a snowstorm:
  • If you can remove your car from the street during a snowstorm, please do.
  • If you can imagine traffic directions as waterflow in a creek, place your shoveled snow downstream from your driveway apron.  This way it will not get plowed back onto your driveway.
  • When shoveling or using a snow blower, direct snow onto your lawn area, DO NOT put it in the street.
  • If you are part of a group effort to clear your block of all vehicles, call the Borough Hall (610-376-7481) and let them know.  They will dispatch a truck to your street.
  • Snowstorms can be trying times for you and the Borough Crews.  In effect, they are small catastrophes.  There WILL be incoveniences.  Let’s work together to make them as minimal as possible.

A Message From The Police Chief

I would like to acknowledge and thank the residents of Wyomissing Hills for their attendance at the community meeting held at the Wyomissing Hills Elementary School on Tuesday January 12th.

I hope the police department has helped in putting to rest some rumors, and by offering some crime prevention tips.

For those who could not make the meeting:

Several homes in the Hills have experienced burglaries or attempted burglaries in the past month. The numbers remain the same as stated at the meeting. Recorded from December 14th to January 15th we have recorded 9 burglaries and 16 attempted entries.

In each of the burglaries, entry was gained via an unlocked door or window.  The method of operation of the offender is to walk the area, backyards, etc. and look for homes that are unlocked. Simply taking the time to make sure your home is secure, is a deterrent.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 foot tall, early 20’s, “college age.” He is described as wearing a black puffy winter coat with a fur trimmed hood, and a red or orange knit cap. The target is cash, nothing else has been taken. In those instances in which the subject was observed he fled from the area.  The times of the incidents have been between midnight and 5am. with  no particular day of the week.

The Wyomissing Police continue to seek community assistance by being alert, locking your homes, and watching out for your neighbor, as we continue to investigate these crimes. Residents are urged to call the police to report anything suspicious.
The Wyomissing Police Department has our on communications center and can be reached 24/7. Call us at 610-375-6101 or 911. If you have any information and want to remain anonymous please call Crime Alert Berks at 1-877-373-9913.

The number of people in attendance at the meeting truly shows the concern for your neighborhood. This is a great example of the residents and police working together to keep our community safe.
                                            Sincerely,
                                     Chief J. R. Biehl
