Welcome to the County of Berks
Impact of Crime Class

Juveniles who commit crimes involving victims can be court-ordered to attend the Berks County Juvenile Probation Office's Impact of Crime (IOC) class. This class is taught by the Victim/Witness Advocate, assisted by a Juvenile Probation Officer, both of whom are trained in the statewide Impact of Crime curriculum. The IOC class is 3 hours in length and taught in one evening. Juveniles are instructed in the Balanced and Restorative Justice concept, victim empathy, how to write a proper apology letter, and the types of feelings and emotions their victims may experience. They are also taught how the crime they committed affects not only their victim, but the community and the juvenile's family as well.
