DOMESTIC SUICIDE ATTEMPT
LOCATION: Englesville Road, Colebrookdale, Berks County, Pennsylvania
DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
On June 25, 2020, at approximately 8:00 P.M., the Berks County Department of Emergency Services contacted the Berks County Detectives Office relative to a suicidal male armed with a handgun and the responding agency was requesting our assistance.
Detectives learned the following:
At approximately 7:22 P.M., officers from Eastern Berks Regional Police Department were detailed to respond to a domestic call involving a suicidal male at a residence located in the 600 block of Englesville Road, in Colebrookdale Township.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male and he immediately walked away from the officers. The male was in possession of a handgun and fled towards the 500 block of Englesville Road.
The male proceeded into a wooded area and emerged in a back yard at which time the male discharged the handgun firing (1) one shot. Officers located the male who sustained a single gunshot wound in an apparent attempt to commit suicide.
Officers immediately contacted Emergency Medical Services who responded to the scene and the male was airlifted via Penn Star to a medical facility.
The Berks County Detectives recovered a handgun, processed the scene and conducted interviews.
The male’s medical condition was listed as critical late last evening.
The Berks County District Attorney’s Office wants the Colebrookdale Township residents and community to know there is no further threat or danger. This was an isolated incident involving (1) one male.
