DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
 
During September 2020, the Berks County Drug Task Force initiated a drug investigation relative to Jose Abreu dealing cocaine, heroin and OxyContin within the City of  Reading, PA.
 
Based on information received and investigation conducted, on October 15, 2020, the Berks County Detectives obtained sealed search warrants for the residence of 128 W. Greenwich Street, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, a 2014 Dodge Dart vehicle, bearing PA plate KYW-0019 and the body of Jose Abreu.  The search warrants were signed, sealed and issued by the Court of Commons Pleas Judge.
 
On October 16, 2020 at approx. 9:55 AM, detectives observed the suspect, Jose Abreu exiting 128 W. Greenwich Street and enter a black 2014 Dodge Dart vehicle, bearing PA plate KYW-0019.  The suspect drove approximately two blocks north away from the home.  Abreu then drove the into an alley where he was stopped and apprehended by the detectives.  At approx. 10:11 AM, the Berks County Drug Task Force, the Pennsylvania State police, and the Reading Police Vice Unit served the search warrant at 128 W. Greenwich Street, Reading, PA.
 
As a result of the search, the following items were found and seized:
  
1-    A large number of packets of suspected Cocaine (ready for street sales)
2-    A large number of packets of suspected Heroin (ready for street sales)
3-    Bulk amount Heroin
4-    Bulk amount Cocaine
5-    A significant number of OxyContin pills (ready for street sales)
6-    Numerous drug paraphernalia items related to processing cocaine and heroin for street sales  
7-    Assorted documents related to suspect, Abreu
8-    Two (2) cellular telephones
9-    $9000 in U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from drug sales
 
Jose Abreu was transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center for processing and preliminary arraignment.  Bail was set at $550,000 and he remains in Berks County Jail..
 
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
