DETAILS OF INCIDENT:
On June 30, 2020, Muhlenberg Township Police met with the parents of a (16) sixteen-year-old male, hereinafter referred to as the victim, who had been sexually abused over the course of the past (6) six years. The alleged suspect was identified as Jackie Reifsnyder, the boyfriend of a family member.
The Muhlenberg Township Police Department referred this child abuse complaint to the Berks County Detective’s Office.
On July 9, 2020, a Forensic Interview was conducted with the victim at the Children’s Alliance Center. During this interview, the victim disclosed and provided specific details related to the sexual abuse which occurred over the past (6) six years, starting when he was approximately (10) ten years old. In addition to the sexual abuse, the defendant also performed sexual acts, in the presence of the victim.
The defendant also provided the victim with gifts to maintain his silence and keep him from telling anyone about the sexual abuse.
The victim stated the sexual abuse occurred inside (3) three different residences, all located within Berks County, Pennsylvania.
The defendant betrayed the trust of the family and preyed upon the victim while he was acting in a caretaking role, providing care and supervision of the victim.
On January 12, 2021, the Berks County Detective’s Office filed criminal charges against the defendant, Jackie E. Reifsnyder, at Magisterial District Judge Steven Chieffo’s Office.
M.D.J. Chieffo issued an arrest warrant for the defendant.
On January 13, 2021, at approximately 9:00 A.M., the defendant, accompanied by his attorney, surrendered by reporting to the Berks County Detective’s Office. The defendant was immediately escorted down to the Central Processing Center where he was released into the custody of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department.
The defendant will be fingerprinted and photographed.
The defendant was arraigned and bail was set at $20,000. The defendant posted bail and is free awaiting further court action.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant Jackie E. Reifsnyder, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
