On January 17, 2021, South Heidelberg Township Police were detailed to a residence  in Robesonia, relative to the sexual abuse of a victim who was identified as a twelve-year-old female.
The victim’s mother reported that her daughter had been sexually abused by the mother’s paramour, Isidro Michael Alvarez.  Alvarez resided with the family at the time of the abuse. He fled the residence prior to police arrival.
The South Heidelberg Township Police referred this Child Abuse complaint to the Berks County Detective’s Office for review and further criminal investigation.
During the investigation, the Berks County Detectives learned the following:
On January 19, 2021, a forensic interview of the twelve-year-old victim was conducted at the Children’s Alliance Center (CAC). The victim disclosed and provided specific details related to the sexual abuse, which occurred inside her bedroom.
The abuse occurred approximately ten times between June 2019 to January 2021.
On March 4, 2021, detectives filed criminal charges against the defendant, Isidro Michael Alvarez before Magisterial District Judge Ann Young and she issued an arrest warrant for the defendant.
On March 9, 2021, the Berks County Sheriff’s Warrant Squad apprehended the defendant as he exited a residence located in the 1800 block of Old Lancaster Pike. He was taken into custody and immediately transported to the Central Processing Center where he was fingerprinted and photographed.  
MDJ Ann Young held a video preliminary arraignment and she set bail at $25,000. The defendant was committed to Berks County Jail pending a preliminary hearing.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant Isidro Michael Alvarez, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
