A Reading Police Officer responded to the residence of the victim and conducted a brief minimal fact interview. The complaint was referred to the Berks County District Attorney’s Detective Office.
The Berks County Detectives initiated a criminal investigation, which yielded the following information:
On January 15, 2021, a Forensic Interview was conducted at a Child Advocacy Center. During this interview, the victim disclosed and provided specific details related to the sexual assault which occurred on April 23, 2020, inside a residence located in the City of Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
The victim positively identified the defendant, Luis Angel Bautista, her uncle, as the person who sexually assaulted and impregnated her. He was twenty-eight years of age at the time of the assault.
During the investigation, detectives collected DNA samples from the defendant, the victim and her baby.
On May 5, 2021, the DNA samples were delivered to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, for testing and comparison.
On July 6, 2021, the Berks County Detectives received a laboratory report from the FBI  which concluded that the defendant, Luis Angel Bautista, is in fact the biological father of the victim’s child who was born December 8, 2020.
