On May 6, 2019, at approximately 10:09 P.M., officers from the Wyomissing Police Department responded to the residence located at 10 Birchwood Road, Wyomissing, Berks County, Pennsylvania, relative to a shooting. This was in response to a 911 call placed by the victim to the Berks County Department of Emergency Services, to report that he had been shot.
Responding officers arrived at the residence and met with the victim, identified as Na'il Salamov. He had suffered a wound to the left side of his torso, under his arm, which was consistent with a gunshot wound.
The victim told the officers that he was inside his bedroom when he heard someone enter his residence. He initially believed that it was his father, who also resided with him. Suddenly, his bedroom door was forced open by two unknown suspects.  One of the suspects sprayed the victim with mace. The victim stated that he got into a physical struggle with the two suspects and one of the suspects shot him.  Then, the two suspects fled the residence.
The victim was able to provide the police officers with a description of the two suspects.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrived at the residence to provide advanced life support to the victim, who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported via ambulance to the Trauma Unit at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center/Tower Health.
On May 7, 2019, at approximately 3:56 A.M., Na'il Salamov succumbed to his injuries at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center/Tower Health.
The Wyomissing Police contacted the Berks County Detectives, requesting additional manpower and resources. A team of detectives, which also included members of the District Attorney’s Forensic Services Unit, responded to the crime scene and hospital.
Numerous items of evidence were collected, processed, preserved and either delivered to the District Attorney’s Forensic Services Lab or the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab in Bethlehem, for further examination and testing.
On May 7, 2019, at approximately 7:00 P.M., Forensic Pathologist Dr. Neil Hoffman, performed an autopsy on the victim, identified as Na'il Salamov (37 years of age).
Based on the results of the physical examination along with the results of the autopsy, Dr. Hoffman concluded the cause of death was due to a “single gunshot wound”.
The Berks County Coroner ruled the manner of death as homicide.
Through the course of this homicide investigation, detectives served numerous search warrants, which eventually lead them to a cellular telephone number that was associated with an account belonging to the defendant, Jarren Walker.
The detectives were able to identify an electronic device, associated with the defendant’s account, which was within proximity to 10 Birchwood Road, before, during and immediately departed that location right after the shooting. 
In August 2021, the detectives interviewed a witness who provided information relative to this homicide investigation. The witness was contacted by the defendant, Jarren Walker, shortly after the homicide. The defendant admitted to the witness that he (the defendant) along with another person, went to the victim’s residence to rob him.
The defendant told the witness that another person pepper sprayed the victim. The victim grabbed the defendant, a physical struggle ensued, and the defendant shot the victim. The defendant and the other person then fled the residence.  
On September 1, 2021, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office approved the filing of criminal charges against the defendant, Jarren S. Walker, which include Murder of the Second Degree, Murder of the Third Degree, Firearms Violations, etc.
On September 1, 2021, at approximately 12:05 P.M., the investigative team comprised of detectives from the Wyomissing Police Department and Berks County District Attorney’s Office apprehended the defendant at his place of employment located in the City of Reading.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center.  
A video Preliminary Arraignment was held, and Magisterial District Judge Andrea Book committed the defendant to Berks County Jail. There is no bail for Murder of the Second Degree since the maximum sentence is life imprisonment.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation, and the defendant Jarren S. Walker, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
This homicide investigation remains active. The detectives will continue to exhaust all investigative leads, utilize every resource and tool, along with technology, to identify every person who was involved in or played a role in this tragic murder and bring them to justice.
