The Berks County Heritage Center is a historical interpretive complex commemorating important eras of our cultural history. The Gruber Wagon Works, a National Historic Landmark, the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center, Wertz's Covered Bridge, Melcher'sGrist Mill, Deppen Cemetery, Bicentennial Eagle Memorial, Police and Veteran's Memorial, Doctor's Grove, theDistlefinkand a salad and herb garden are all encompassed within the Heritage Center. |
The stone house serves as an information center, as well as the offices for the Interpretive Services staff. The Heritage Center hosts several annual events along with a seasonal Interpretive Program series featuring workshops and programs for all ages. Hours of Operation
The Heritage Center is open from May 1 through the last Sunday in October. The hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.; the center is also open summer holidays. Tours are available daily; the last tour leaves one hour before closing. For more information, call 610-374-8839.
